Psychodynamic Equine Assisted Trauma Therapy (pEATT) is an integrative treatment approach rooted in the guideline-compliant psychodynamic/depth psychological approach while adhering to recognized (DeGPT) trauma therapy guidelines.
pEATT has its greatest application in the area of complex/early childhood and combat-related stress disorder(s), but can be adjusted according to the population being treated.
Especially in Europe, the “certificate of expertise” does not only require training in specific forms of therapy guidelines, but is also very emphasized.
The name of the training: "Psychodynamic..." may erroneously lead to the assumption that the pEATT model is only intended for psychotherapists in this field of expertise. However, this is not the case.
Module InformationUpon successful completion of all modules and associated prerequisites, participants will be certified in PPTT.

Especially in Europe, the “certificate of expertise” does not only require training in specific forms of therapy guidelines, but is also very emphasized.
The name of the training: "Psychodynamic ...." may erroneously lead to the assumption that this therapy model is only intended for psychotherapists in this field of expertise. However, the interventions and concepts taught are applicable in any therapeutic work, the trauma-informed practices recommended for all client groups.
pEATT neither replaces nor competes with prestigious long-term training and certification programs. The training units clearly focus on the equine-assisted elements that are necessary for the psychotherapeutic work in a team.
Upon successful completion of all modules and associated prerequisites, participants will be certified in pEATT.
About the modulesFundamentals of Psychodynamic Equine Assisted Trauma Therapy.
Part 1: Online
This basic course provides an overview and insight into the necessary structure and procedure in trauma-informed equine assisted therapy.
€ 475,- (incl. 1 hour of supervision)
Part 2: Online
This advanced basic course introduces equine-assisted trauma therapy and shows the elements that are necessary for processing trauma while working in a team. In detailed case analyses, possible difficulties in the implementation of what has been learned so far are described: Starting with teamwork and ending with the involvement of the horse, certain key topics are examined and considered in a structured manner.
Equine Assisted Resource Activation, Emotional Regulation
and Stabilization.
Face-to-face training: This practical application and execution with horses of the learned theoretical parts will focus primary on stabilization, resource activation and emotional regulation. All this while respecting the pEATT premises and the principle of the quadrant approach.
Equine Assisted Trauma Confrontations (online)
The work with complex PTSD and specific trauma-confrontational techniques as well as the most important theoretical components will be presented and deepened, using equine-assisted case studies and examples.
Summary Practice and Exercises
In this 4-day face-to-face training, all learned components, including trauma confrontation with horses, are experientially practiced and anquored.
It's simple:
The horse is sentient, thinks, and is equal in the pEATT teamwork. The horses is not a therapist – not an aid – neither a tool nor an attachment replacement.
The client is an equal human and equal member of the team.
Psychotherapist and equine behavioral specialist have equal areas of responsibility.
This is the premise of the quadrant approach:
A model in which each participant participates in, supports, and accompanies the process while maintaining their own responsibility (ability to respond), self-determination, and being on equal footing with everyone else.
"Through my work as EAGALA trainer/mentor and EAGALA Network Coordinator for Germany (2011-2016), I contributed to making equine-assisted work with the EAGALA model known in Germany."
Depth Psychology, Psychotrauma Therapy (DeGPT)
Years of working in U.S. military hospitals have trained me in the typical clinical areas. In 2001, my focus shifted to the treatment areas of "trauma", "combat-related stress disorder" and "reintegration after deployments/retirement”.
To date, I offer military service members as well as people who have experienced a trauma assistance in dealing with their respective life circumstances.
